In-Person Therapy

Therapy in Fairhope, Daphne and Mobile, AL

In-person counseling for individuals, couples, families, and children.

Sunset over Mobile Bay from the Eastern Shore near Fairhope, Alabama

For clients on the Eastern Shore and in greater Mobile, in-person therapy is often the right choice. There's something different about meeting in the same room: the attention you can give each other, the absence of screen fatigue, the way silence works when it's shared rather than transmitted. My Fairhope office is set up for exactly that kind of work.

For people deciding whether to drive in from Daphne, Spanish Fort, Mobile, or somewhere else nearby, the practical details follow.

The Office in Fairhope

My practice is located at 203 Fels Avenue in downtown Fairhope, Alabama 36532. A quiet, private office a few blocks off Section Street, easy to reach without dealing with downtown crowds. The space is designed for therapy: comfortable seating, soundproofing, a separate entrance, and natural light. Free parking is available on the street and in the adjacent lot. Sessions are scheduled with buffers between clients, so there's no overlap in arrivals.

Driving from Daphne

From central Daphne (36526), the office is about a ten-minute drive south on US-98 / Greeno Road. From the Daphne–Spanish Fort line, count on closer to fifteen minutes during light traffic. The drive avoids the I-10 Bayway entirely, which means it's reliable even at rush hour. Most Daphne clients schedule mid-morning or early afternoon and find the trip a straightforward in-and-out.

Driving from Spanish Fort

From Spanish Fort (36527), take I-10 east one exit to US-98 south, then south through Daphne into Fairhope. About fifteen to twenty minutes depending on the time of day. Same pattern as Daphne: easy drive south, no bridge traffic.

Driving from Mobile

From Mobile and greater Mobile County, the drive is across the I-10 Bayway and into Fairhope via US-98. Typically thirty to forty minutes outside of rush hour, sometimes longer. Many Mobile-side clients schedule mid-day to avoid bridge backups. For some, telehealth ends up being the more practical option; we can talk through which makes sense for you during the consultation. I'm an Alabama-licensed clinical psychologist with experience working with Mobile residents in both formats.

Driving from Foley and Gulf Shores

From Foley, Gulf Shores, and lower Baldwin County, the drive is north on AL-59 and west on US-98. Roughly thirty to forty-five minutes. Several of my regular clients make this drive every week or two and find the rhythm of the trip helpful in itself: a buffer between session and home life on either end.

Therapy Services Available In Person

Everything I offer can happen in person at the Fairhope office:

The first session for any new client is 90 minutes. Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions are sometimes longer when the work calls for it.

My Approach in Brief

I don't follow a rigid framework or a manualized treatment plan. I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic approaches, interpersonal therapy, family systems work, and somatic awareness, using whatever fits the client and the work in front of us. The goal is always change you can feel and use, not insight that stays in the room.

Why Drive to Fairhope

Several reasons clients give for choosing this practice over options closer to home:

Doctoral-level training. Most Eastern Shore therapists are licensed at the master's level. Fewer than ten doctoral-level psychologists practice in Baldwin County. The depth of training matters when the picture isn't simple.

Twenty-plus years of clinical experience. Pattern recognition that comes from long practice: knowing what tends to work and what's likely to need a different approach.

Multi-modality treatment. Most therapists work primarily within one school. I draw from several based on what the work requires.

Lifespan reach. I see children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and seniors, a wider range than most solo practices.

Clear policies. Insurance, fees, scheduling, and confidentiality are spelled out plainly. No guessing.
